Baptism
Children
“Let the children come to me, do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” -Mark 10:14
Children under the age of 6 can receive the sacrament when supported by their parents. Baptism preparation for children provides necessary information and background on this Sacrament for those in our parish community who have children to be baptized. The classes for parents and Godparents are scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month, 7:00 PM at St Mary’s Church. Contact the parish office (208-962-3214) to register for the class, as the class is only scheduled if there is attendance.
Children in 2nd to 8th grade who are seeking to be baptized or did not receive first Holy Communion in the 2nd grade, are invited, with their parents, to receive sacramental preparation in our Family RCIA program. The children and their families will learn many of the basic beliefs of the Church and will prepare for the sacraments of Baptism (if not already baptized),Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Adults
Adults who have never been baptized normally go through the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA).

First Reconciliation & First Eucharist
Preparation for the reception of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is through our PFFP program in the second grade. The purpose of First Communion/Reconciliation Preparation Programs are to instruct the children and their families in the Sacraments and how we live them out in our daily lives. First reception of Reconciliation and Eucharist should be primarily a family celebration within the context of the Church community. In this way the child, through the family, takes on greater participation in the Church of which he/she is a member and thus continues to realize more deeply the unique call of one’s Baptism. It is the parent’s responsibility to catechize their children for the sacraments. The catechist in the classroom helps to support the parent in providing a formal preparation as is found in the student text.
We offer classes for Sacramental Preparation Monday & Wednesday. Classes follow the Prairie School Calendar. Visit the Prairie Faith Formation Page (PFFP) for more details.
